This resin incense is a blend of raw frankincense tears and myrrh resin - a truly ancient blend of aromas, commonly used for clearing, healing, purification, protection, spiritual awareness, and meditation.
Frankincense resin is obtained from trees of the genus Boswellia (family Burseraceae). Incisions are made in the trunks of the trees to produce a milk-like resin. The resin hardens into orange-brown gum resin known as frankincense.
Myrrh is gathered in a similar fashion as Frankincense, with sap being extracted from small, thorny tree species of the genus Commiphora. Myrrh resin has been used throughout history as a perfume, incense, and medicine.
